President Irfaan Ali took the oath of office for his second term as Guyana's leader on Sunday, following the electoral commission's formal ratification of his victory in the recent elections.

The People's Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) secured 36 seats, marking an increase of three seats from their previous position. This expanded majority strengthens Ali's mandate to implement his economic vision for the nation.

During his inauguration speech, President Ali outlined his commitment to building a diversified economy that extends beyond oil revenues. "Our oil and gas sector will continue to grow, expanding production and revenue for our people," Ali declared, adding, "We'll press forward with new exploration on a stronger production sharing agreement, ensuring that the benefits are greater, the gains are wider, and the wealth is truly for the people."
