Joy Adams leads newly selected Guyana Women's Basketball team for Suriname series

The Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) has announced its 12-member women's team for an upcoming two-game series against Suriname, scheduled for August 10-11, 2025, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. The selection marks a significant milestone in Guyana's women's basketball development.

Professional Talent Leads National Squad

Europe-based professional Joy Adams headlines the roster as team captain, preparing for her historic 5-on-5 debut on home soil. Adams' previous success at the FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup in Miami, where she led the tournament in scoring, positions her as a crucial asset for Guyana's national basketball program.

Rising Stars and Veteran Experience

The squad features the talented Ramlall sisters - Ashna, Arshia, and Amisha - from Minnesota, whose debut adds fresh energy to the team. Veteran centre Keane Andrews returns to provide essential experience, balancing a roster that showcases emerging talent from last year's Inter-Guiana Games.

Government Support and Future Development

The series, backed by the Government of Guyana, represents a strategic initiative in the GBF's women's program. Federation President Michael Singh emphasized that women's basketball development will remain a priority throughout 2025.
